Betreff: Aktueller Stand zur finanziellen Unterstützung durch die Stadt
Liebe Freundinnen und Freunde,
liebe Patinnen und Paten,
liebe Spenderinnen und Spender,
wir wenden uns heute mit einem Thema an euch, das uns sehr bewegt.
Vor fast genau einem Jahr hatten wir von unserem Bürgermeister die mündliche Zusicherung erhalten, dass unser Kinderheim durch städtische Mittel finanziell unterstützt werden würde. Nach unzähligen Mails und Rücksprachen haben wir nun – leider – eine endgültige Absage erhalten.
Die Begründung lautet, dass der „Mayoral Fund“ lediglich ein sehr kleiner Fonds sei, der nur begrenzte Soforthilfen für NGOs/NPOs leisten könne. Für eine nachhaltige Unterstützung unseres Kinderheims sei die Provinzregierung zuständig. In der schriftlichen Antwort heisst es wörtlich: “Regrettably the fund is not able to provide assistance. The best place for the sort of support you are seeking is to be found at the provincial department of social development…”
Auch auf meine direkte Nachfrage per Whattsapp beim Bürgermeister selbst habe ich eine abschlägige Antwort erhalten: “Sorry we can’t be of assistance at this time.”*
Mein persönliches Ziel war und ist, mich langsam, aber sicher zurückzuziehen und die Leute (Helferinnen und Führung des Hauses) machen zu lassen, wie es scheint gelingt mir das (noch) nicht, ich hätte NIE gedacht, dass Geordin sein Wort nicht hält!
Diese Entwicklung ist für uns alle mehr als sehr enttäuschend. Wir hatten gehofft, mit dieser Unterstützung mehr Planungssicherheit und Stabilität für unser Kinderheim zu gewinnen.
Gleichzeitig zeigt uns dies, wie wichtig und unersetzlich eure Hilfe ist. Ohne euch – unsere Unterstützerinnen – hätten wir das alles nie realisieren können. Ihr seid es, die den Kindern hier ein Zuhause, Geborgenheit und Perspektiven schenken.
Wir möchten euch daher umso mehr danken, dass ihr uns in dieser schwierigen Situation nicht allein lasst. Gemeinsam werden wir (so Gott will) Wege finden, unser Projekt auch weiterhin zu tragen.
Wer Interesse hat, kann mir gerne eine kurze Mail schreiben – ich lasse Dir dann den gesamten Schriftverkehr zukommen. Wir sind nun leider wieder auf Feld 1 und werden den Weg über die Provinzregierung gehen müssen. Unsere Mittel reichen noch bis vielleicht Mitte Oktober…..

Subject: Current Status of Financial Support from the City

We are reaching out to you today with a matter that deeply affects us.
Almost exactly a year ago, we had received a verbal assurance from our mayor that our children’s home would receive financial support from municipal funds. After countless emails and follow-ups, we have now – unfortunately – received a final rejection.
The reasoning given is that the “Mayoral Fund” is merely a very small fund that can only provide limited emergency assistance for NGOs/NPOs. For sustainable support of our children’s home, the provincial government would be responsible. In the written reply it literally states:
“Regrettably the fund is not able to provide assistance. The best place for the sort of support you are seeking is to be found at the provincial department of social development…”
Even to my direct inquiry via WhatsApp to the mayor himself, I received a negative response:
“Sorry we can’t be of assistance at this time.”
My personal goal has been, and still is, to slowly but surely step back and let the local team (the helpers and the leadership of the home) take over. But as it seems, I have not yet managed to do so. I would NEVER have thought that Geordin would not keep his word!
This development is more than disappointing for all of us. We had hoped that this support would provide more planning security and stability for our children’s home.
At the same time, this shows us how important and irreplaceable your help is. Without you – our supporters – none of this would have been possible. It is you who give these children a home, security, and prospects for the future.
Therefore, we want to thank you all the more for not leaving us alone in this difficult situation. Together we will (God willing) find ways to continue carrying this project forward.
Anyone interested is welcome to send me a short email – I will then share the entire correspondence with you. Unfortunately, we are now back at square one and will have to pursue the route via the provincial government. Our funds will probably last until maybe mid-October…
